New Treo 750v!

Just received the new Palm Treo 750v from Vodefone (unlocked) to replace my two week old Treo 650 that replaced my 6 month old Sidekick 3. Yeah I like to change phones a lot but I think this time we have a winner. Seriously.

First Impressions of my Sidekick 3

I got my Sidekick 3 yesterday. Wow what an amazing little do-everything
device! Phone, web, email, IM, address book, calendar, camera, mp3
player and I can even blog from it like I'm doing now. The only thing
this new toy doesn't do is wipe your ass. It is big compared to the
RAZR and it comes with shit accessories like a bulky case and $2
headphones from Walmart but overall its an great gadget. I love new
toys!

Posted from my T-Mobile Sidekick 3.

Sidekick 3 Frenzy

The latest version of the Danger Hiptop / T-Mobile Sidekick 3 is officially out and only available to current T-Mo subscribers, like your truly, starting today, July 28 and will be available to the general public on July 10. Never have I've seen such crazy frenzy over a cell phone / pda gagdet. Hundreds lined up and camped outside the Santa Monica and New York City T-Mo stores, thousands more called 611 or went to my-tmobile.com to perform the handset upgrade at midnight last night.

Hopefully this latest toy will be all that its hyped up to be. By the way, I ordered mine online a little bit past midnight last night. I even opted for UPS Express shipping and it should have it by Friday. :)

iPod news and rumors

So France has decided to take on a very important global issue - DRM interoperability for MP3 players, meaning any music purchased from any online music store, like iTunes, can be played on any MP3 player, like the iPod. In the grand scale of things, I thought that global warming, starvation in Africa, the Iraq War (oh wait thats right the peace loving Frenchies don't support the Iraq War) are more important issues. But not the French. DRM interoperability is a big thing for them. They have even drafted a law last week about this issue. Apple has responded by calling it "state-sponsored culture of piracy" and the US government has sided with Apple. Will Apple soon be serving iToast and iFries in its Cupertino campus?

In other, more interesting news, Apple has put its 5G 60GB iPod on its "at risk" list, meaning Apple will be phrasing it out in the near future, by the end of April. It seems that this news suggests the introduction of the much anticipated and much rumored 6G iPod sporting a widescreen with touchscreen capabilities in the very near future.

Is your ISP blocking Port 25 for outside email accounts?

Most ISP's are blocking Port 25 for outgoing emails from outside email accounts in order to cut down on spam. I know that bellsouth.net is one of these ISP's. I cannot send from my account hosted by MediaTemple. As a solution, you can use your ISP's outgoing SMTP mail server to send.

The setup for Outlook 2003 looks something like the following...

For the Outgoing mail server (SMTP), use the address for your ISP.

Now click on More Settings. Click on the Outgoing Server tab. Select Log on using and enter your username and password.

Make sure that you test your new account settings to ensure that it works properly.

Done!

New PC - SONY VAIO RB60G + HS95P/S 19" LCD

Intel Pentium D Processor 920, 1GB DDR2 memory, 250GB hard drive, nVidia 6800GT PCIe video card, DVD±RW drive, DVD ROM drive... this machine is some serious piece of hardware. Now if I can figure out how to connect/integrate Media Center PC to my DirecTV HD box, we'll be in good shape for the start of the F1 season.
