X-Men 3 Review

Decent movie to end the trilogy but somewhat disappointing as well. Here are the bad points...

- Cyclops and Professor X died too early.
- Too much action and special effects.
- Zero character development.
- Colossus didn't fight Juggernaut.
- No emotion or heart.

I enjoyed the Bryan Singer's first two X-Men movies more. Brett Ratner's version, while decent, doesn't live up to Singer's versions. Well at least, its not as bad as the Hulk or Joel Schumacher's Batman movies.

Rating: 6/10

Michael Schumacher, 7-time World Champion and Cheater

Michael Schumacher has sunk to a new low. Now we can add parking his car in Rascasse at Monoco during the final lap of qualification in order to block his competitors from bettering his P1 time to his list of infamous acolades, including running Damon Hill off the track in 1994 and crashing Jacques Villeneuve in 1997 to prevent him from winning the World Championship.

I'm happy that the FIA make the right decision by stripped Schumacher of his qualification times and sending him to the back of the grid. In a tight track like Monoco, he has zero chance of winning.

Schumacher should just retire if he needs to cheat to stay competitive.

Why Drunk Drivers Suck Part IV

Why Drunk Drivers Suck Part I

Why Drunk Drivers Suck Part II

Why Drunk Drivers Suck Part III

I learned today that the State Attorney has officially filed charges against Junior Lopez consisting of assault with a deadly weapon, DUI, leaving the scene of an accident, careless driving, no proof of insurance, invalid registration and he pleaded not quilty to all charges. The trial has been set for June 26.

I'm happy to see that the US Justice System is working through this case to a favorable conclusion. People like Junior Lopez are a danger to society. I wonder if he never hit me that night, what would have happened? Perhaps he would have hit and killed someone in his drunken state?

DaVinci Code and Catholics

So I'm Catholic and I plan on seeing the DaVinci Code movie and therefore according to some people I'm a blasphemous sinner that will be going to hell. Some random thoughts...

Yeah I understand that Dan Brown's book and its movie version puts into dispute the very core of Christianity, however its a work of fiction and I take it for its entertainment value. Sure some people may take it as truth but then again some people also think we never landed on the moon or that Bush and his Administration ordered 9/11. The DaVinci Code book and its movie version are simply products of entertainment, nothing more, nothing less. It doesn't advertise itself as the Holy Bible or God's Word. Anyone that believes otherwise is just guillable and ignorant.

I know some local Catholics in Miami who are actually planning to protest/boycott at movie theaters this Friday and throughout the weekend. Don't these people know that by protesting, the opposite effect will be achieved? Any attention is good attention, even negative. And of course, the news media will portray all Catholics as extreme fanatics in the coming days by showing protests after protests, as if Cindy Sheehan and her anti-Bush/anti-war freak show aren't enough.

And it seems like the Archdiocese of Miami wants all local Catholics to boycot and/or protest the DaVinci Code yet refuses to hear more important issues concerning education and an extremely unfair decision regarding enrollment restrictions against my alma mater, Belen Jesuit Preparatory School. I wonder if I will go to hell if I call Archbishop Favalora, Father Dennison of Little Flower and Father Greer of Good Shepherd hypocrites?

Why Drunk Drivers Suck Part III

Why Drunk Drivers Suck Part I

Why Drunk Drivers Suck Part II

We went to a pre-filing conference today at the State Attorney's Office and learned the drunk guy's name - Junior Lopez. It seems that Mr. Lopez's situation doesn't look too good. They are filing charges of DUI, hit and run and possibly assault with a deadly weapon against this guy. Even if he plea bargains he'll already spread almost a month in jail since hes has no money to post bail, 3 years of probation, his license suspended for a year, a few hundred hours of community service, ordered to pay me $600 in damages to my car and a few hundred dollars to a charity of my choice. If he doesn't accept the DA's offer, than its off to a trial where its almost certain he will lose.

Another reason to not buy GM

Yes these are photos from a new Corvette Z06 whose roof decided to come flying off one evening. Poor GM. If they aren't reporting billions in losses, its roofs coming off from their halo car, the Z06.

This is yet another reason why I'm sticking to foreign cars. I don't have to worry about flying roofs at 60MPH.

Mission Impossible 3 Review

MI:3 is an adrenaline filled thrill ride with constant action from start to finish. When Ethan Hunt wasn't shooting at the bad guys, he was jumping off buildings, blowing up stuff or running around. I liked MI:3 better than its previous two installments.

Why Drunk Drivers Suck Part II

Why Drunk Drivers Suck Part I

Took it to Super Shine today and had them apply wax and claybar to the area. The majority of the scratches and black marks have been taken off but there is still one scratch that couldn't be removed along with a few small craters in the paint. Looks like I will have to repaint the entire rear bumper to get it back to its original condition. This is quite upsetting as I worry about this accident will hurt the future value of my otherwise pristine S2000.

Why Drunk Drivers Suck

So my wife and I were leaving Sunset Place in Miami Saturday night at around 1am, after seeing MI3 (good movie BTW, LOTS of action), and I notice this older model Nissan Altima behind me was literally inches from my rear bumper. I move forward a little a create some gap b/w him and I and suddenly he steps on it and boom, nails me in the ass. angry.gif

I get out fuming, looked at the damage, which consisted of lightly scratched up driver side rear bumper with black marks and really isn't too bad. Here's my conversation with the guy...

me: What the hell, you hit me.

him: Huh? No I didn't. Where?

me: Yes you did. (I point out the obvioius scratches.) I hope you have insurance.

him: I do.

me: Show me and your driver's license too.

Him: ...

He looks at me with a blank stare, at which point I thought hmmm he looks drunk or high. So I go back to my car, grabbed my cell phone and took a photo of his license plate in case he decided to run. Then I noticed the guy start looking around him as if he was looking for a way to leave but there was none. There were cars and cones all around us.

me: Where's your license and insurance?

him: ...

me: Fine, don't play with me, I'm calling the police and you can show it to them.

I dial 911.

him: Wait, I'll give you a hundread bucks.

me: Are you fucking out of your mind? A hundred bucks? This is a $40K car!

So I'm talking to 911, the Sunset Place parking garage attendent come and order us to move to the side to keep traffic flowing. I said no because I knew the guy would try to leave and I told the attendent this. But fine I finally gave up as he was making the guy move anyways despite my objections. He had the guy reverse out and pull over the side, except he didn't. As I'm telling 911 the details, I see the guy speeding towards the exit gate and my wife is running after him.

I run over and start yelling that if he leaves its a hit and run and I will press charges. I yell at the attendents to not open the gate for him. At this point, I go around to the front of his car. Then suddenly he lunges it forward. If I didn't move back, I would have been run over. I start yelling at the guy. Turn off your fucking car now, you're not leaving! He lunges his forward at me again. Again I back up and I kicked his car in self defense. I continue to yell at him with 911 still on the phone.

Seconds later, the police show up finally. The cops told us to move over the Sunset Place circle on the side. My wife told the cops what happened. Witnesses told the cops what happened. I told them the story and that I wish to press charges. The cop then goes over and starts bitching at the guy that if he doesn't find his license, he will be arrested. The cop goes back to his cruiser and after some time comes back. Meanwhile my wife calms me down and the guy keeps looking in his car for his paperwork. He gives me back my license, registration and insurance and tells me that the guy will probably be arrested and that he will give him a roadside sobriety test. So the cop had the guy go through the motions... touching his pen, touching his nose, hopping on one leg while counting to 30, raise his right and left hand on his command, walk in a straight line. Instead the guy didn't touch his pen, touch his eye instead of his nose, almost fell over a few times and never finshed counting to 30, rose his left hand when the cop told him to raise his right and walked in a zig zag. Then the cop handcuffed and arrested the guy right in front of us. He comes over and tells us that he is charging him with the accident, attempting to run me over (attempted assault) and DUI. He gave me some papers and we were on our way, while the drunk guy literally passed out in the cop car in handcuffs.

I'm gonna try to use wax and claybar to see if I can get the scratches off. I think and hope so.

Stupid Kids these days

So yesterday I come home from work and walk my two dogs so they can do their thing. So we're there, and my next door neighbor pulls up to her house in her SUV with her three kids. Her 10 year old son jumps out and starts yelling "Doggie! Come here doggie!" Then he tells his sister that they're "little and ugly", turns around, picks up this huge rock and throws it right at my dogs. It almost hits my 9 week old puppy in the head. I yell out "Hey kid what are you doing?" I pick up the rock and throw it over to their lawn. The kid runs into the house. His mom then gets out of the SUV, looks at me weird and starts walking inside. I try to call her, "Excuse me your son just threw a rock at my dogs, excuse me..." She completely ignores me and walks inside her house. I take my dogs back in my house and walk over to the neighbor's house and pounded on the door. The mom answers, I tell her "Don't ignore me, your son threw a rock at my dogs. I would appreciate it if you told him something and keep him in control because the next time, I won't be aiming for just your lawn." Then the bitch goes, "Oh yeah I already told him something and anyways calm down man, its just animals." Then slams the door in my face.

Bitch.

Moussaoui sentenced to Life

After the hearing, Moussaoui proclaimed "America, you lost. ... I won." Win? What exactly did yhe win? Let's explore this...

- He won a permanent residence at the lovely United States Penitentiary Administrative Maximum Facility (ADX) in Florence, Colorado, nicknamed the Alcatraz of the Rockies.

- He won a lifetime of solitary confinement of 23 hours per day.

- He won a 7 x 12 cell where he will spend 23 hours per day for the next 40 to 50 years of his pathetic life.

- He won a lifetime of beatdowns, getting his assed kicked, raped and tossing Big Daddy's salad.

- He won a lifetime of starring at a concrete wall.

So he won huh? No. We won. He wanted to die not rot in hell. He wanted to become a martyr for the extremist Muslim world and the jury denied him that. Instead he will rot in that little cell for the rest of his life, wishing he was dead.

And I don't know about you, but if given the choice between the electric chair and life in a supermax prison, my reaction would be, "So where do you plug that shit in?"

My thoughts on Immigration

HR 4437 makes me sad. We were all immigrants at some point. Maybe not you specifically, but your father, grandfather, great grandfather, etc. The founding fathers of this country were immigrants. So now I don't fully understand the backlash against immigration.

There are some illegal immigrants who are in the US but hate this country and can be basically described as freeloaders. These people should be deported back.

However there are others who are contributing members of our soceity and we should help them become residents and eventually citizens.

Immigration is what this country was built upon and being anti-immigration only leads to intolerance and racism.
