X marks the spot

Mitsubishi's Concept-X is their prototype to the next generation Lancer Evolution X and due to be introduced in the 2006 Toyko Motorshow Event.

Some highlights...

- Turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four cylinder engine
- Clutchless six-speed auto-manual transmission with paddle shifters
- New all-wheel drive system - Super All Wheel Control (S-AWC)
- Suspension will be MacPherson strust at the front and a multi-link system at the rear
- Heavy use of aluminum throughout the body to reduce weight
- On-board multimedia system includes a high-definition liquid crystal monitor

Like the current Evo, this promises to be a performance monster. Too bad the car resembles a riced up Mitsubishi Galant with the face of the Predator.

My God, this car is butt ass ugly but in a good way. I like it.

The Schumacher Era is over.

I'm glad. I was getting sick of Ferrari and Schumacher winning over and over and over and over again. Anyone but Schumacher and any team but Ferrari. However Fernando Alonso isn't just anyone and Renault isn't just any team. At only 24, Alonso is at the pinnacle of motorsports. Amazing.

Interesting view about Katrina and New Orleans

I do definitely believe though that we are breeding a society of "losers." I'm not describing a "winner" as someone who makes a lot of money. Because there are many rich people that are complete losers in life but yet they are wealthy. This is how I feel. The whole mentality of survival of the fittest which has kept all forms of life at their peak potential, is quickly dissipating as we speak. Too many government programs and welfare systems are allowing the dumb and weak to breed more dumb and weak people. While the ones that stay moral and put forth a conscious effort to give back to society, choose to breed less. So, in 40 years, The people that have been raping our country, will be the ones in charge of it.

To give you my thought on the whole hurricane situation. It could be mother nature, but it could be some divine act the we can't even understand attempting to rid the world slowly of the ingrates and social misfits. Whose to say that an asteroid taking out a whole world of carniverous wild beasts that we're slowly evolving, that gave way to a more intelligent creature was an act of mother nature? Or could it have meant more. What about Hurricanes, Earthquakes, Tsunamis slowly taking course to erradicate the world of people who are in a sense "locusts". Terrorists, Gluttons, Warmongers, Ingrates, Social Degenerates that aren't contributing to society but merely destroying it. I'm sorry but as long as the world has the view of "well, it doesn't effect me so I don't care!" The situation's only going to get worse. I'm sorry I'm going on a rampage here but I think the analogy to Rome was a good one. The idealistic thoughts and standards of Rome gave way to the degeneracy of it, and ultimately the ruining of it. I do feel bad for the people that loss their homes, the ones that chose to evacuate New Orleans. The ones stuck in other cities trying to start their life over and be productive members of society. But the ones that bull shit and are just throwing their hands up and not trying to help put the pieces back together. Those are the ones that are too selfish to understand that they are a part of something larger than themselves, the only thing they care about. I'll show you an email one of my friends recieved and read this. These are the people that are breeding, raising a new generation of welfare recipients.

'A VOLUNTEER IN HOUSTON............

THIS IS AN ACCOUNT FROM A VOLUNTEER IN HOUSTON

I arrived at the astrodome only to find out that there are too many volunteers and that volunteers were needed at the George R. Brown Convention Center. As I was walking up to the Convention Center I noticed a line of cars that wrapped around blocks filled with donations. These where ordinary Houstonian's coming with truckloads and trunks full of water, diapers, clothes, blankets, food, all types of good stuff. And lots of it was NEW. I felt that warm fuzzy while helping unload these vehicles of these wonderful human beings. I then went inside the building and noticed approximately 100,000 sq. ft. of clothes, shoes, jackets, toys and all types of goodies all organized and ready for the people in need. I signed up, received a name badge and was on my merry way excited to be useful.

I toured the place to get familiar with my surrounding; the entire place is probably around 2 million sq. ft. I noticed rows as far as the eye can see of mattresses, not cots, BLOW UP MATTRESSES!!! All of which had nice pillows and plenty of blankets. 2 to 3 bottles of water lay on every bed. These full size to queen size beds by the way where comfortable, I laid in one to see for myself. I went to look at the medical area. I couldn't believe what my eyes were seeing!!! A makeshift hospital created in 24 hours!!! It was unbelievable, they even had a pharmacy. I also noticed that they created showers, which would also have hot water. I went upstairs to the third floor to find a HUGE cafeteria created in under 24 hours! Rows of tables, chairs and food everywhere - enough to feed an army!

So that was the layout: great food, comfy beds, clean showers, free medical help, by the way there was a library, and a theatre room I forgot to mention. Great stuff right????

Well here is what happened on my journey -

I started by handing out COLD water bottles to evacuees as they got off the bus. Many would take them and only 20% or less said thank you. Lots of them would shake their heads and ask for sodas! So this went on for about 20-30 minutes until I was sick of being an unappreciated servant. I figured certainly these folks would appreciate some good!!! So I went upstairs to serve these evacuees some GOOD food.

Evacuees came slowly to receive this mountain of food! I tell them that we have 2 types of great deli sandwiches to choose from - ham and turkey. Many look at the food in disgust and DEMAND burgers, pizza, and even McDonalds!!!! Only 1 out of ten people who took something would say "thank you" the rest took items as if it was their God given right to be served . They would ask for Beer and liquor. They complained that we didn't have good enough food. They treated us volunteers as if we where SLAVES. No not all of them of course...but 70% did!!!!!! 20% were appreciative, 10% took the food without any comment and the other 70% had some disgusting comment to say. Some had the nerve to laugh at us. A needless to say I was in utter shock. They would eat their food and leave the mess on the table... some would pick up their stuff many would leave it for the volunteers to pick up.

I saw many young ladies carrying mattresses and I helped for a while. Then I realized something...their where hundreds of able bodied young men who could help!! I asked a group of young evacuees in their teens and early twenties to help. One said "We just lost our ****ing homes and you want us to work!!" The next said "Ya Cracker, you got a home we don't" I looked at them in disbelief.

If immigrants, who come here, can work and become successful... CAN'T THE MAJORITY OF THE HOMEGROWN DO IT!!! If we continue to reward these losers then we will soon destroy our great country. I just witnessed selfish, arrogant, unappreciative behavior by the very people who need help the most. Now these same people who cursed me, refused my generosity, refuse to help themselves are now DEMANDING handouts on their terms!

I think it's time that we demand work for relief and stop this cycle of behavior which is going to spread in our city which already has enough of these problems.. It's this behavior which has caused these 'REFUGEES' to be in the situation presently in and they will continue to be ,until they learn that work is rewarded and laziness brings nothing... It's sickening to hear the press act as if it's noble to be a poor person. IT'S TIME TO WAKE UP AMERICA!!"

What we might need is just somebody to take out the trash and, maybe, evolution/nature is doing that in ways that we don't understand and may cause us to have to suffer through so we can see a better day. Maybe this all seems utopian and will never happen but if that's the case. I believe human civilization will be just a blink of the Earth's existence because we are giving way to the destruction of it by not enforcing the right moral fiber in people.

Unknown source. I found it on s2ki.com.

Even though I disagree, it is an interesting article filled with interesting points.

Having lived in New Orleans during my college years, I do see where the writer is coming from. With the exception of the French Quarter, Downtown, the Garden District and Uptown, much of the rest of New Orleans is very poor and consequently resembles a huge ghetto. Some of my friends used to ask me why I moved back to Miami from New Orleans after Tulane. I would tell them that NO was great during college but its not a city where I want to live.

I've heard many other stories from volunteers from Houston about this negative refugee attitude. Its sad. Unfortunately many of them are stuck in the welfare circle. They were born into the welfare system, witnessed their parents living off welfare, they were raised in it and now that they are adults, they know nothing else. In a way, they and their resulting generations are trapped unless society changes.

The welfare system needs to be severely downsized. Instead of giving handouts and reinforcing their freeloader attitude, the system should educate them. Providing real education and job training is the only way to break this cricle. Educate them into productive members of society instead of letting them be freeloaders.

Photoshopped modded Honda Fit

Here's a stock Honda Fit.

Here's a photoshopped Honda Fit lowered with bronze 16" Volk Racing CE28N's, tinted windows and front windshield and red H badges by yours truly.

This is pretty close to how I would want my Fit. My only other color choice would probably be Taffeta White with white 16" Work Emotion CR-kai wheels but I already have a white car and the USDM version will probably come with the nasty tan interior.

First Confirmed Photo of USDM Honda Fit

Source: VTEC.net Fit Forums

Here's what I know so far...

- It will be called the Fit.

- The Fit will officially debut in the Detroit Auto Show in January 2006 and go on sale immediately afterwards.

- It will arrive at dealers in March 2006.

- There will be two trim models... base at $13K and sport at $15K (addition of foglights, alloy wheels and body kit).

- CVT-7 Transmission is confirmed. No information regarding a manual.

- Engine will most likely be a 1.5 Liter VTEC.

- Honda is set to make a huge marketing push on the Fit, as it is doing with the new Civic.

With an estimated 45MPG, the 2007 Honda Fit will be a great daily driver and an excellent addition to my S2000.

Rita, the Perfect Storm?

At 897 MB with 175 MPH winds and max gusts up to over 200 MPH, Rita has become as close to being the Perfect Storm.

The question now is where will it make landfall and how strong will it be when this happens? How will it effect an already devastated New Orleans? How badly could Galveston and Houston be devastated? How will Bush, the federal government and FEMA react? And finally in the longer term, how can the US pay for the recovery from Katrina and now potentially Rita while attempting to sustain our efforts in Iraq? As much as I support the Iraq War, it may be time to bring our troops home, leave Iraq in chaos, let it plunge into civil war and focus on what is more important at home.

2006 Porsche Cayman S Configurations

I have my eye on the new Porsche Cayman S, BMW E90 M3 and Infiniti GT-R as possible new toys in my garage in 2007-08. While the new M3 and GT-R won't be out for another 2 years, the Cayman is launching officially on sale now. Here's my Porsche Cayman S configurations...

Configuration 1

Cayman S $58,900
Atlas Grey Metallic $825
Sea Blue Sport Seats $0
Bi-Xenon Headlamp Package $1,090
Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) $1,090
Short Shifter $765
Sport Chrono Package $920
Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) $8,150
19" Carrera S Wheel $1,550
Foot Rest Aluminum $250
Instrument Dials in Speed Yellow $690
Adaptive Sport Seats $3055
Automatic Climate Control $550
Sport Steering Wheel Leather $740
Bose Surround Sound System $950
Options Sub-Total $21,525
-----------------
Total $80,425

Configuration 2

Cayman S $58,900
Atlas Grey Metallic $825
Black Standard Leather $0
Bi-Xenon Headlamp Package $1,090
Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) $1,090
Short Shifter $765
Sport Chrono Package $920
18" Cayman S Wheel $0
Foot Rest Aluminum $250
Instrument Dials in Guards Red $690
Sport Steering Wheel Leather $740
Options Sub-Total $7,270
-----------------
Total $66,170

The ideal configuration would be config 1 but $80K for a Cayman S? For a little bit more, I can get the 911 Carrera S. I figure I won't need upgraded 19" wheels, since I'll probably upgrade them to 19" BBS LM's anyways. I probably could do without the $8,000 brakes, $3,000 seats, automatic a/c or Bose audio however these options would be nice to have. If I end up deciding on the Cayman S after the new M3 and GT-R are released and test driven, I'll probably end up with a mix of the two configs.

Here's my Porsche Cayman S photoshopped with 19" BBS LM wheels and 30%/75% tint on the windows and front windshield.

2006 BAR Honda Driver Line-up confirmed

B.A.R Honda confirms 2006 driver line-up

B.A.R Honda is delighted to confirm that Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello will be racing together for the team in 2006.

After three successful years with B.A.R Honda, Jenson and the team have concluded a multi-year extension to his current contract. From 2006 he will partner Rubens, who will join B.A.R Honda on 1 January and whose place within the team was confirmed last month.

Nick Fry, B.A.R Honda Chief Executive Officer, said: "We are delighted to be able to confirm our 2006 race driver line-up. We can now put the uncertainty of the past few months behind us and focus on the future, which looks very exciting indeed. We have made no secret of the fact that we wanted Jenson Button to remain with B.A.R Honda for the next few years and that we considered Jenson and Rubens to be our dream line-up for 2006 and beyond.

"Takuma Sato has been an extremely valuable and much-liked member of our team for four years in the roles of test driver, third driver and, latterly, race driver. He has made an enormous contribution to B.A.R Honda's development. Takuma's current contract reaches its conclusion at the end of 2005 but B.A.R Honda is in discussions with Takuma and his management regarding possibilities for the future."

Sporting Director Gil de Ferran said: "I am very pleased that our team will feature one of the strongest driver line-ups in Formula One for 2006 and beyond. I know both Rubens and Jenson well and I have every confidence that they will work well together to develop our car and team whilst competing strongly at the race track. I have enjoyed working with Taku over the past year and I wish him well for the future."

Jenson Button commented: "I'm obviously delighted to confirm that I will be staying with B.A.R Honda for the next few years. Since I joined the team in 2003 we've shared some important moments in my career and the team's history. There are many more goals for us to achieve together - not least of all winning the World Championship. I want to be at B.A.R Honda to see that happen - and I believe that it will happen. 2005 has been a challenging year but we've bounced back from our problems and the team is much stronger as a result. I also have a new team-mate in Rubens Barrichello and I look forward to the two of us pushing each other, and working together to keep driving the team forward.

"I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at the Team, at Honda and our tyre partner Michelin for their support over the past three years. The effort that has gone into building this team into what it is today has been relentless. It's been a privilege to be a part of B.A.R Honda and I am delighted that I will be part of its future. I look forward to achieving our next goal - our first win together - in the very near future."

Rumors from within the F1 circle claim that BAR Honda/Button will be paying Frank Willams $30 million over the next 3 years to buy Button out of his Williams contract. The question is if Jenson Button is really worth it?

2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser

The original 1960 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ-40 was a formidable off-roading beast. Utility, not luxury, was the key. The FJ-40 could navigate through most of Earth's various environments and weather conditions. This vehicle put Toyota on the map.

Fast forward half a century, the Land Cruiser FJ-40 has evolved into the ultimate SUV of choice for soccer moms - the Toyota Land Cruiser. A bloated, luxo SUV among Toyota's line of mostly boring cars. However, all hope is not yet gone. A new Supra is rumored to coming back, the Prius has brought hybrid technology to the automotive forefront, the Scions have added a bit of youth into the brand and the new Lexus GS and IS are true competitors in the sport sedan category. And in early 2006, Toyota is bringing back the FJ.

Modernized and renamed as the 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser, this latest version stays true to its heritage through its design and utilitarian features. Powered by a 4.0 Liter V6 producing 245 HP and 282 lbs/feet torque, the new FJ Cruiser is an all business machine. And priced between only $20,000 to $25,000, Toyota has a winner on its hands.

People who leave their sweat on the equipment and don't care to wipe it down. Thats just plain nasty... ewwwww.

Too Late Mr. President

Heres my reaction to Bush's speech last night... While the plans that Bush laid out are good, his commitment to rebuild New Orleans and the Gulf region to be bigger and better than before are strong, his rare admission to failure is welcomed, it is too little, too late. We are three weeks into this crisis. Bush had the chance to pull the nation together in the early days after Katrina but he dropped the ball. He could have given this speech last week but didn't. Now its week three... too late.

Blaming Bush for my shoelaces coming untied

Make no mistake, I'm angry at Bush. His failure to rapidly respond to the people of New Orleans resulted in deaths. This is the United States. People shouldn't be left to starve or dehydrate or just rot to death. I understand that the local and state responses were lacking as well but the buck stops with him. As President, he could of and should of done more. As President, he should have been informed of the situation, not learn about it from a DVD containing various evening newscasts.

However this isn't about Bush but about those people that blame Bush for everything.

You're poor and didn't get a huge tax break like rich people? How dare Bush lower taxes! Nevermind that Bush's tax cuts are across the entire income spectrum, from those making $10K per year to the Donald Trumps of the world making billions per year, nevermind that everyone got a tax cut, nevermind that everyone is taking home more money, nevermind that I have an extra $100 per month thanks to Bush's tax cuts. No you're poor, live in the ghetto and life sucks. You should go on welfare and let the government feed your lazy, worthless ass. Take that Bush!

9/11? Its a conspiracy! Bush is behind 9/11 to advance the cause of the Global Elite. Now lets make a website and sell some DVD's to spread the truth under the name Alex Jones! Forget that it was radical Muslim terrorists belonging to al Queda who attacked our country, forget that there is overwhelming evidence that it was al Queda, forget that Osama bin Laden admitted that he is behind the attacks, forget everything that engineering experts from MIT have wrote regarding the collapse of the World Trade Center Towers. No no, 9/11 is an inside job, the WTC collapsed due to demolition explosives and Bush is behind it all.

Iraq War? Bush attacked Iraq for its oil! Nevermind that at the time, intelligence sources believed that Saddam was trying to obtain weapons of mass destruction, nevermind that Saddam has violated UN sanctions time and time again, nevermind that Iraqi forces have shot at patroling US fighters in the no fly zone, nevermind that Saddam had invaded Kuwait just a decade earlier, nevermind that Saddam had used weapons of mass destruction against his very own people inside his very own country, nevermind the Iraqi people live in state of tyranny and environment of fear, nevermind that we signed an agreement with Iraq that states Iraqi oil is their oil and it belongs to them only. No, poor Iraq was attacked by the big bad United States and its all Bush's doing.

Your son got killed in Iraq? Oh I know, lets go to his ranch, organize a rally and go on national TV proclaiming "Bush killed my son!" Forget the fact that your son was in Iraq under his own free will, forget your son was protecting our nation and our freedoms, forget that he was killed by terrorists, forget that everytime you choose to speak, you are disgracing yourself, your son, your military and your country. No forget that, Bush killed him.

Gas prices too high? Lets blame our idiot President! Nevermind the basic law of supply and demand, nevermind that we are in the middle of the summer season when travel peaks, nevermind that Hurricane Katrina damaged 1/3 of our nation's oil production facilities, nevermind that OPEC not Bush controls the price of oil, nevermind that terrorism, the threat of terrorism and instability in Iraq and the Middle East effects oil prices, nevermind that we have an unfriendly anti-American leader in Venezuela, nevermind that Europeans have been paying $6 to $7 per gallon for the past year and we have it lucky. No nevermind the real reasons why we are paying $3.29 at pump, its all Bush's fault.

Nevermin... Wait, damn my shoelace just became untied... that damn Bush, everything is his fault!

After almost 5 days... Help has arrived... Finally.

Everyone who knows me knows I'm a Bush supporter. I voted for the man twice for President. The first time, he was the lesser for two idiots (sorry Gore fans but I cannot vote for someone who claimed to be the inventor of the internet), most of his views regarding pro-life, pro-death penalty, lower taxes, less government is more in line with my own. He almost immediately lowered taxes and immediately everyone in the United States saw the benefits of this in their paychecks. Then 9/11 occurred and changed everything. This single event was to define his Presidency and Bush rose up to the challenge. The search and rescue operation went into place within minutes of the disaster, FEMA immediately showed up, Bush spread a voice of calm in the chaos. I'll never forget Bush visiting what was left of the WTC, standing on top on the rubble and answering one man's call of "we can't hear you" with "I can hear you, the rest of the world can hear you and the people who knocked these buildings down will hear all of us soon." And hear us those motherfuckers did. I even support the Iraq War, despite the massive intelligence failures, and constant rhetoric from the Administration. I believe what we are attempting to do in Iraq is important to its citizens, the region as a whole, may assist in changing the Muslim mindset towards the US in the longterm and by bringing the fight to the terrorists there, we are keeping them from blowing up more buildings and killing more innocent people here.

Now came Katrina. At first, we all thought that New Orleans was spared as the hurricane took more of a eastern path. However by the second day in the aftermath, the levees broke and the massive flooding begun. New Orleans is under water. People are stuck in their houses, attics and rooftops with no food or way to escape. In the SuperDome and Convention Center, people are being starved to death. There is no help for the elderly, babies and the sick. Packs of armed men are running the streets shooting at the police and rescuers. Looting is out of control. Hospitals are in dire conditions, so bad that its doctors are calling the media and begging for help. One third of the New Orleans Police have turned in their badges and simply quit.

New Orleans has fallen into total anarchy amid the devastation. The scenes from the media look like scenes from Somalia or even Baghad, but no its New Orleans, Louisiana, United States of America, supposely the greatest nation in the world. Well the greatest superpower can't even help its own. Almost five days it took for help to finally arrive. Help is there but too little, too late. People are still stuck in their attics or rooftops, awaiting rescue that may never come. People have died from hunger and dehydration. The entire relief effort thus far has been one big cluster fuck starting from the Mayor of New Orleans, the Governor of LA, FEMA and President Bush. Hundreds, maybe even thousands, have died on his watch. As Bush walked around Mississippi yesterday, comforting those two women, people in New Orleans were dying. As Bush toured New Orleans in his Presidential helicopter, people down below were dying. As Bush goes to sleep tonight in the White House, people in New Orleans are dying.

Where was the help on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday? Would it have made a difference if those people in New Orleans aren't black and poor? What if they are white and belonged to the middle or high class? I understand the logistical problems, but surely more could have been done. Within two days of the Tsunami, we had people in southeast Asia. We moved soldiers and equipment all over the world. We have landed men on the moon. We have two robotic rovers on Mars and the little spacecraft that could, Voyager 1 and 2, are both reached our soalr system's final frontier. But yet, despite these grand achievements, we cannot rescue our own people of New Orleans. Thinking about this more and more makes me sick. I'm done.

Hurricane Katrina victims need your help!

Often times, life passes me by and rarely do I stop to appreciate what I have. A home to come back to at the end of the day, having food and water, clothes to wear, the basic necessities of life. My alma mater is Tulane University, I lived in New Orleans for 4 years while I studied at Tulane. Its an unique city, Mardi Gras rocks, cajun food rocks. I was hoping to visit next year with my wife, but never thought that New Orleans may not be there to visit anymore.

The devastation that Hurricane Katrina left behind has now been called the "greatest natural disaster in US history". There may be up to a million who are homeless, thousands feared dead. Those fortunate enough to survive must literally rebuild their lives from nothing; start over.

When the tsunami happened, I felt sorry for the victims, but the event was literally across the globe. It never impacted me personally as much as what Katrina left in its wake. It hits home very hard to see New Orleans and the Gulf Coast region submerged and places that I've been to destroyed. The human suffering is unfathomable. This is our tsunami.

Please contribute what you can to this relief effort and pray for all the victims of Katrina, those that are dead and those who survived as they must now find a way to move on.
