PS3 Delayed until November
Its official. The much anticipated SONY Playstation 3 has been officially delayed until early November 2006. In a press conference, SONY Computer Entertainment President Ken Kutaragi, made the annoucement.
Among some of the other details he announced...
- The PS3 will be released worldwide simultaneously in the first week of November.
- A 60GB HHD will be included in the PS3.
- The PS3 will come preloaded with Linux.
- The PS3 will be backwards compatible with all PS1 and PS2 games.
- The "Playstation Network Platform" will be the equivalent of Xbox Live for the Sony PS3.
- The delay is due to finalization of encryption technology for the PS3's Blu-ray disc drive.
- The PSP will drop down to $199.99 starting next week.
This news is nothing shocking and was expected but is nevertheless, disappointing. I still had some small hope that the PS3 will be released this spring. Too bad. I might have to just get the Xbox 360, especially now that I've discovered its tight integration with Windows Media Center.
