What does this really say about Islam?

This is my final post on the Muslim cartoon backlash subject, I promise, unless WW3 breaks out because of it. That said, what does the violent reaction to the cartoons from millions of Muslims around the world really say about Islam as a religion? I've always held the belief that Islam, like Christianity, promotes peace and goodwill amongst mankind. While Islam is a very different religion then Catholicism, the message itself is quite similar, or so I thought.

Now I'm not so sure anymore. While the fundamental message of Islam remains the same, radicals and extremists from within have twisted Islam into a religion that promotes racism, ignorance, hypocrisy, arrogance and violence. Their rally cry has become "Death to Israel! Death to America!" Muslims refer to those of us that are not Muslim as infidels. Their leaders, Imans and Sheiks promotes violence by making statements such as, "We will defend our prophet with our blood, not our voices." They are quick to offend and insult anyone that does not share in their Islamic beliefs, while demanding that they be respected at the same time.

Hopefully some, still sane, Muslims will one day realize that terrorists like Osama bin Laden and even their leaders are giving Islam and Muslims a bad name. Hopefully one day, some will rise up in an internal revolt and cleanse themselves of those twisted radical extremists and bring Islam back into a positive light.
