The old Seven Mile Bridge is no longer part of the US

Today, fifteen Cuban exiles were deported back to Cuba. They were rescued last week by the US Coast Guard, clinging onto the old Seven Mile Bridge in the Florida Keys. The technicality... the old Seven Mile Bridge is not considered "dry foot" since it is not connected to the mainland. Under the current wet foot, dry foot policy, Cubans who reach US soil are allowed to remain in the US but those stopped at sea are deported back to Cuba. So according to this ruling, the 7 Mile Bridge is no longer US territory? But wait... if a crime takes place on the old 7 Mile Bridge, the criminals will be prosecuted the same as if they commited the same crime in the middle of Downtown Miami.

As the son of a Cuban exile, I'll have to say... que mierda!
